Datcher Keltner and several of his colleagues studied that experience to learn more about awe and what happens when we feel it. Awe he says, ‘activates our vagus nerve. That’s “the big bundle of nerves starting in the top of your spinal cord that helps you look at people and vocalize,” Keltner explained, and it also “slows our heart rate, helps with digestion and opens up our bodies to things bigger than us.”“Awe also cools down the inflammation process,” Keltner said his studies have shown. “It’s part of your immune system that attacks diseases, and we want it to be cooler and not always hot.” Dacher Keltner on the huntington Post
This made me think of the benefits of worshiping the Lord. Worship we as Christians participate in is a powerful life changing experience too, where we can feel renewed, enlightened and set free from ailments and even sicknesses, as we worship our God and Savior Jesus Christ. the experience is real and has a visible physical effect on the person worshiping. Where a person felle that his burdens have been removed, peace has come to his soul and a new hope has come to his mind. It is possible to be ehaled physically as one worships too.
Im Mark 5;1-9 we read of the story of the man with a thousand demons who when he saw Jesus worshipped him. this is strange yet awesome a demon possessed man bowing ‘in awe’ at the presence of the almighty standing before him, what a drastic change form the man described as one bound in chains and no man could bind him for he often threw himself into the fire, such as he was controlled bu the demons in his soul. But here, He stood in AWE of Jesus. Jesus cast the demons out of him and set him free and immediately he was found to be in his right mind. look art what the scriptures say. ‘Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. 16 And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine.
There’s healing in Worship, There’s deliverance in worship. as we stand in awe of him who loved us and gave his life for us we can experience the power and presence of his saving grace. Just like Keltner states awe helps us ‘opens up our bodies to things bigger than us.’ science proving the healing power of God! Hallelujah.
In the Old testament anyone who even looked at the cross would be healed. (Numbers 21:9. John 3;14,15) I dare you today to spend time standing in awe of God.
