If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled (Col 1;23).
To be settled in the faith is to have confidence in God and his word
To be settled in the faith is to bear fruit is due season
To be settled in the faith is to be well grounded in truth
In “the faith” whenever Paul talks of the faith of the church he talk’s of “the faith” not just any faith or every kind of faith but “the faith” as if there was but one faith for us all. The faith once delivered. The faith of the “one Lord, one faith, one baptism” of the one true church. which was and is his church. The church he died for, the church of his name who perform signs wonders and baptism, yea, all things, in his name (Col 3;17; Eph 4;5; Eph 5;25)
It is the duty of us all to be settled in the doctrine fo the faith (Acts 2;42) “the apostles doctrine” was the faith they preached and the faith they once delivered and delivered once and for all and its as we are grounded we become “rooted, settled and fruitful” doctrine gives us stability and leads us onto maturity. Doctrine gives us divine confidence in standing against and confronting the dogmas, opinion and deceptions of other faiths. doctrine makes us convincing, forceful and fruitful.
Doctrine saves souls
