Anyway why not invite the father while you’re at it and the son also, I mean let’s invite the whole family! There again we pray sideways like this because of our misunderstanding of just how many persons make up the Godhead! Lets get it right. God is one and God is Spirit. We pray in Jesus name because Jesus is the “name” of the Godhead. Paul said I will pray with the spirit, not pray to the spirit. Deception comes when we pray as we want rather than pray as Jesus wants us to pray, which is, in his name. Do all in my name, why! God is One (Col 3:17 Gal 3:20)
Paul.
Have your say below.
Great word, Paul! The following is taken from the book I wrote; Amazing Promise – How Sweet The Sound. “In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus explains how disciples will be made: that all three persons of the Trinity are involved. They are to be baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Disciples will be baptized, immersed, into what represents and characterizes all three persons of the God-head. Certainly they should be baptized in water, but they should also be immersed in the hope of spending eternity with God the Father, immersed in faith in Jesus blood to cleanse them of their sins, and immersed in the Holy Spirits love, in grace. They are to be immersed in the Promise of Love that bears the LORDs name: He is good (the Father); His love (the Son, Grace, Jesus) endures forever (the Spirit of Truth). The immersion of believers in His Promise of faithful Love is critical so they will fully trust the Fathers heart – that His heart is always good toward them, that His love for them endures forever. Note that and teaching them to obey is part of the previous statement of immersing them in the name of the LORD. It is immersion in Grace, resulting in Grace being born in them, that will empower and teach them to be obedient to every command and to say No to temptation – Titus 2:11-15.”
Exactly why I pray to God directly.
Amen. Thanks Paul.
that is sooo true! Preach it Bro Paul!Sherline 😀
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Great Post, Paul! I think this principle of prayer, presence of God, and understanding is key for living the abundant, supernatural life Jesus gives. Not that I have it down…in fact for me it is still an obstacle because of church culture I gre up in. But, I’m beginning to see that praying for things we already have (e.g. Holy Spirit to come when He’s already in us) really slows us down. Not that we are supposed to be results driven in our prayers, but it does ‘slow us down’ in our relationship with God. Thanks for posting! Blessings!Aaron
The Lord bless you my Aaron and thanks for your input and sincerity. Yes I truly believe the Lord himsef is showing us things about himself. To me truth always exalts Jesus. If hes made number one then its truth about him. If he is given the supremacy in all things he will always be exalted as both first and last, Lord and God…. Blessings Aaron hope you visit again..
That got me shouting…My Sister you are preaching worldwide..
Amen, my friend said to me, “I pray to the father in Jesus name.” I said, “hasnt the Father go his own name?…..”My sister you are a blessing, by the way glad to know you’re home and your journey went good… Keep smiling…big!Paul.
